WHO INSPIRES YOU?

Patients inspire me because they put their trust in you and their feedback can teach so much if the Surgeon is patient and listens.

WHAT IS YOUR BEST RESURGE MEMORY?

The opening of the Burn Intensive Care Unit in Kumasi 1st February 2001 in the presence of a large gathering of officials, management and staff, in particular 6 nurses who had training in Dundee. Funding for training and equipment came from a Rotary International Matching Grant arranged by Claverhouse Rotary Club, Dundee.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHANGE YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IN HEALTHCARE?

As with medicine and surgery treatment which should be evidence based I would like to see a requirement for all Governments, Managers and Administrators also to subscribe to “Evidence Based Change”. All new proposed changes should be trialled and investigated before implementation. It might slow change but except in emergencies it could prevent shambolic side effects and complications.
